Caitlyn Brasier’s grandmother was instrumental in shaping her future in the health and wellness industry. At the age of twelve, her grandmother started taking her to Balance Spa in Tewksbury to get facials. They always felt great and she knew as she entered high school she wanted to make people feel as good as she had during her spa treatments.

Upon high school graduation, Caitlyn’s parents urged her to go the college to get a degree. She completed a few semesters but knew it wasn’t for her. “I wasn’t feeling college,” Caitlyn explains. She wasn’t interested in the curriculum. It was then that her grandmother reminded her of her love for facials. She told Caitlyn that she could go to school to learn how to give facials and learn about makeup.

Caitlyn left college to pursue a career in aesthetics. She checked out some schools but when she visited Spa Tech Institute in Ipswich, she knew she was at the right place. “I really liked the energy and it felt like I fit there.” In 2012 she enrolled in the 600 hour aesthetics program.

While in school, she remembers her teachers and how supportive and helpful they were. She enjoyed the aromatherapy classes as well as learning about the different facials that were available. She comments, “The hands on learning was huge for me.” Caitlyn made many friends, some of which she still has relationships with. She loved going to Spa Tech Institute because she was doing what she knew she was meant to do.

Caitlyn began working at a spa upon graduation, but it wasn’t a good fit. She heard Balance Spa was looking for an aesthetician so she was excited to apply and was hired. She worked there for a year and a half and decided, at that point in her life, that wasn’t right for her either. She was determined to be successful and feel good about her new career. She took a leap of faith and ended up working the front desk at Massage Envy in Billerica.

Caitlyn credits this move to Massage Envy as helping her career move forward. The manager was going to Spa Tech Institute for an Open House in Westboro and Caitlyn was inspired to look into the massage therapy program they offered. She went for a tour and quickly enrolled in the 650 hour therapeutic massage program. As in Ipswich, Caitlyn enjoyed her time in the Westboro location and graduated in 2016. Advice she offers to new students is to believe in yourself and follow your intuition.

Caitlyn transitioned from Massage Envy back to Balance Spa and worked at the front desk until she was licensed. “This is one of the best things I have ever done. Balance Spa always felt like home to me. We are like one big family.” She comments that the spa manager Kristin is very supportive.

Caitlyn divides her time between massage and aesthetics at Balance Spa. She was encouraged to get her nail tech license and is now licensed in three modalities. She enjoys being able to switch it up and offer many spa services to help her clients feel great. As she looks back, she realizes that she always liked to help people and this was the perfect career choice!

Caitlyn has taken some classes in cupping, positional release and reiki. Her next career move is to enroll in the 660 Polarity program Spa Tech Institute offers in Ipswich next month. “I am on a journey and this is the next step for me,” exclaims Caitlyn. She cannot wait to offer energy work to her clients.

Caitlyn’s grandmother visits Balance Spa for regular spa treatments and her parents couldn’t be prouder. You can feel great by booking yourself with Caitlyn at Balance Spa by calling 978-851-9898.
