ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Spa Tech Institute was created in 2001 with the merger of Headhunter II School of Cosmetology, founded in 1976, and the Polarity Realization Institute, founded in 1980 by Nancy Risley. The school currently has four locations in North Andover, Plymouth, Westboro, Massachusetts and Westbrook, Maine.

ABOUT NANCY RISLEY

Nancy is the founder of Polarity Realization which evolved into Spa Tech Institute. As a leader in the industry of energy work, Nancy was on the first Committee of Standards of Practice for Polarity Therapy in 1989. She was one of the first Registered Polarity Practitioners (RPP), Board Certified Polarity Practitioners (BCPP) and Educators (RPE).

Along with those achievements, she was also the first chairperson of the Certified Governing Board for Polarity Therapy and was honored by the American Polarity Therapy Association for being a leader in the industry. Additionally, Nancy developed her own body of work known as RYSE (Realizing Your Sublime Energies). Nancy is the author of RYSE, Tools for Life. She and her teaching team have produced over 28 books for massage, polarity, and aesthetics and 14 RYSE meditation recordings.

“I’m so excited you’re thinking of joining me in these professions.

After years of searching I was very fortunate to find the field of holistic health and healing. Being a practitioner was a great gift that gave me the daily pleasure of doing meaningful and fulfilling work with clients. But getting the chance to teach the work to others and help them have careers they love has been even better.

At the core of everything we do is the basic principle of personal potential. Quite simply, until we connect with and use that potential, it’s very difficult to achieve lasting happiness or fulfillment. If you feel like you have untapped potential or a desire to help people look or feel better, it won’t let you rest until you find a constructive way to use it. Whether you are an artist or healer, the creative energy will push to be discovered. It’s up to you to allow it to blossom.

Having been in the field since 1975, it’s been wonderful to see the holistic healing and beauty fields grow, providing new opportunities for graduates as well as opening the way for more and more people to receive the wonderful benefits of the work. When I started very few people received massage sessions. Now the industry is growing with spas, salons, healing centers and a robust community of private practices that are helping more people to feel balanced, aligned, beautiful and happy.

The amazing thing is that there are still a relatively small number of people who receive regular services. But the number is growing and in time massage, polarity and holistic skincare will be a regular part of everyone’s lives. Hopefully, you will be able to join us as a colleague and help with the growth of the industry into the future. There is nothing more satisfying and healthy than doing the work you love and helping others to look and feel their best.

Over the years I have had the pleasure of working with a gifted group of professionals with a passion for teaching. They are dedicated to helping the next generation of talent to reach their potential and enjoy success. Having worked with them for years to find new and innovative ways to teach the work has been a lot of fun.

Our students are a wonderful group whose dedication to helping people is apparent as soon as you meet them. They are warm, friendly and caring people who are excited about the future. It is a treat to work with them and see them grow throughout their program. Their creativity and dedication to acquiring great skills is an important platform for their success.

The foundation of any school is the quality of instructors. At Spa Tech Institute we place a very high value on our teachers, both individually and as a team.
