Graduate Spotlight December 2017 Heather Mcleod

Spa Tech • Nov 30, 2017

Heather McLeod went to high school at North Shore Technical High School and studied cosmetology. While in high school, she enrolled in a class that introduced her to Swedish massage. Upon graduating, she began working in a salon. She worked with many massage therapists who expressed how happy they were doing their job making people feel better. She remembered how much she enjoyed the massage class she took in high school which led her to enroll in the Therapeutic Massage program at Spa Tech Institute in Ipswich.

While at school, she comments, “I liked that we had hands on training. We had different teachers teaching different classes and we got to see all their different teaching styles.” While in school, she made great friends too. She is still in contact with many of them today. Heather graduated from the evening program in 2013.

Heather Mcleod DecemberHeather began her career in June of 2013 at Massage Envy in Danvers working as a massage therapist. She was then transferred to their Beverly location. Her favorite aspect of being a massage therapist is helping people feel better. “I like to treat different people. Everyone presents their own issues and I like to help my client feel better.” Her confidence grew while in Beverly and says, “Don’t doubt your abilities.” She is appreciative of the massage therapists she met there for their support and says she learned a lot from them.

Heather was transferred to the Danvers location and was promoted to manager this past year. She splits her time managing the location and giving massages. Her clients range from athletes to stay at home moms. They all come to her with their individual day-to-day complaints. She enjoys providing deep tissue and hot stone massage when requested. She will soon be certified in stretch as well and is looking forward to offering this service to her clients.

Heather treats herself to regular massage because she says she believes in self-care and says she needs to help herself before she can help others. She stays current by reading various massage magazines to keep up on new products and industry news.

Heather can be reached at Massage Envy in Danvers for a massage at 978-777-7002.
